The last Meaning conference happened in November 2019 – during the before times. Then, for a while, Meaning was postponed. But now, I’m finally ready to confess that I won’t be organising another.
It took a while to get around to making the decision official. Largely because of a deep sense of commitment and duty to the wonderful community of people that Meaning represents. It was easier to say maybe, or possibly, than it was to say no.
I’m sorry to all those who will be disappointed by this decision. Especially the partners and suppliers who helped to bring it all together. I believe it’s the right decision but that doesn’t stop me feeling guilty and sad about it.
I want to thank all the fantastically interesting and committed people I’ve met through Meaning. Thank you to the brilliant contributors who blew our minds with ideas. To the fringe event organisers and workshop hosts who helped to extend the Meaning experience beyond the auditorium. To the participants who joined us with a spirit of openness and curiosity. To the original founders who allowed me to run with it. And to the folks who helped and encouraged me along the way – you know who you are.
I feel incredibly proud of Meaning. It’s the best thing I’ve ever done and it has shaped me as a person immeasurably. And I sincerely believe that the ripples created by the magic of Meaning are still having a positive effect out there in the world.
I hope the video archive will be a lasting testimony to eight brilliant editions of what was so much more than just a conference. So please continue to share the ideas and stories you heard at Meaning. Because although the conference is done, the mission still lives on.Enjoy the Meaning video archive
