Alongside the founders, leaders and CEOs who come to Meaning, we also welcome the social entrepreneurs, the charities and the community-based projects approaching business from a very different angle – and with a very different budget. Meaning thrives on a diversity of perspectives and experiences.
There’s a tension here between our desire to welcome a diverse audience to Meaning, and our need to charge a reasonable ticket price – a price that funds a quality event, covers our costs and provides sustainable work for our organising team, collaborators, suppliers and speakers. How do we strike this balance?
We’ve taken a fresh look at the way we decide the price of your Meaning ticket. We asked for your ideas, and we listened to feedback. And we settled on a new approach.
So now, the price of your ticket for Meaning 2020 will depend on your situation. It’ll depend on whether you’re paying as an individual or whether your employer is meeting the cost. It’ll vary according to the size of your organisation and according to the kind of work you do.
When you book your place in Brighton for 12 November 2020, you may find that your Meaning ticket now costs you a little less than in previous years. Or you may find that it costs you more. And if it’s the latter, then you’ll know that part of your ticket price will be enabling the purchase of more affordable tickets by others.
We now have three ticket prices:
In addition, when you buy your ticket for Meaning 2020, you’ll be invited to ‘pay it forward’: an opportunity to go a step further in recognising your own good fortune and a chance to lend a hand to others at the start of their progressive business journey.
You’ll be invited to add an optional extra £10 to your order as part of the ticket-buying process. This money will fund travel and accommodation for committed change-makers who wouldn’t otherwise be able to participate in Meaning.
Applications for funded places are now open.
We think it’s better for all of us if Meaning is rich with different people and perspectives. If you know someone who would benefit from participating please tell them about Meaning – whether they be a FTSE 100 company board director, a frustrated middle-manager inside a bureaucratic organisation or a social entrepreneur just starting out.
You’ll still be able to save 20% on tickets if you’re buying three or more.
And you’ll still get a whole day full of talks, workshops, challenging ideas and the opportunity for connection and learning with 500 others on their own journey to better business. And of course the best conference lunch in town!
In the spirit of constant learning we fully expect to tweak the structure again next year so do let us know what you think. And a big thanks to all those who’ve taken the time to share ideas and suggestions with us so far. We appreciate it.
