To accompany Poppy Jaman‘s talk at this year’s Meaning conference, everyday people will be hosting two courses in Brighton:  Mental Health First Aider and Mental Health First Aid Champion.

Within these courses, you’ll learn to recognise the signs and symptoms of common mental health issues. You’ll be equipped to provide help on a first aid basis and effectively guide someone towards the right kind of support.

These certified courses are for anyone over 16 who wants to develop a better understanding of mental health. They are highly recommended for business and community leaders, managers, HR professionals and health & safety experts. No prior knowledge of mental health is required.

Both courses are experiential, with a mix of presentation, group discussions and activities. Takeaway materials will be provided, so you can continue your learning even after Meaning Fringe comes to a close.

Choose between two courses:

Mental Health First Aid Champion (1-day) – Friday 16 November

Mental Health First Aider (2-day) – Exact date to be confirmed – during the week of 19 November

9am – 5pm each day

Mental health first aid is not a form of therapy or counselling support. If you’re wondering if this course is right for you, please contact

Locations are yet to be confirmed, but will be in central Brighton.

“This is one of the best courses I’ve ever been on. It was really interactive, and everybody got something from it.” – Participant, 2018

MHFA England’s goal is to train 1 in 10 people in Mental Health First Aid skills. Come and be part of the movement.
